Altus Group Limited came into being on May 19, 2005.
The company is the result of the merger of three of Canada’s leading real estate consulting companies: the Altus Group, the Helyar Group and Derbyshire Viceroy Consultants.
Prior to the merger, each of the entering firms were industry leaders within their respective areas of discipline - each contributing a unique set of strengths to what has resulted in Canada’s most prominent real estate consulting firm.
Specializing in the valuation of premier properties and portfolios, the former Altus Group provided a broad range of real estate valuation, property-tax and market research services. The company was formed in 1999, when 11 long-standing professional practices from across Canada joined together under a common management platform. The strategic alliance resulted in Canada’s largest independent national real estate valuation and research organization.
Founded in 1958, the Helyar Group was Canada’s largest cost consulting and development cost management professional services firm. Specializing in development cost management consulting, the company offered the industry’s most complete set of construction cost related services and was considered the foremost authority on construction budgeting, value engineering, cost planning, contract negotiation and risk mitigation.
The result of a merger between Derbyshire Consultants and Viceroy Property Tax, Derbyshire Viceroy was Canada’s largest tax consulting firm exclusively dedicated to providing realty tax management services. In operation for more than 25 years, the company specialized in municipal assessment and property tax – offering their services to property owners across the country.
